My name is Doug Johnson, and I am a stay at home dad. I am the husband to pro-life speaker and advocate, Abby Johnson. Together, we have five amazing kiddos. As of right now, (April 2015) they are 8, 2 and a half,1 and a half, 8 months, and we just adopted a baby boy into our family. Abby and I were married in 2005. I graduated from Sam Houston University in 2006 with a degree in Kinesiology. My plan was to work in a gym, but my path took me into teaching. I taught high school special education for five years. After my fifth year of teaching, we moved to the Austin area. At that point, we decided it was better for me to stay home with our kids. So, for the last four years, I have been a stay at home dad. I couldn’t ask for a better gig.

With this blog, I am hoping to give some insight into the life of a stay at home dad, and the husband of a successful semi-celebrity woman. In the last few years, we have added four more babies to our clan. All four of them boys. We joined the Catholic Church Easter 2012. To keep myself sane, I enjoy building and refinishing furniture, watching movies, and traveling with Abby any time I get a chance. Along with that, I am something of a beer connoisseur/snob. It’s an expensive hobby, but I truly enjoy hanging out with the guys just enjoying a couple beers.

I am not sure what direction I may go in from one blog post to the next. I hope to just go with it and write on whatever comes to mind. Even if nobody reads it, I still have a fancy online journal I can look back on.
